Visit Downtown Christiansburg today to enjoy
the "35th Annual Wilderness Trail Festival" featuring a Colonial era reenactment. Camped at the Downtown Park on College Street (next door to the National Armory where town elections are held in May), demonstrators will educate visitors with historically factual military drilling, the firing of muskets and cannon, and surveying techniques.
Would the founding fathers of Christiansburg ever have been able to envision our town as it is today?
This Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce festival also features annual favorites including crafters and artisans, music, a children's area with carnival rides and other entertainment -- plus a pizza eating contest! That's probably another thing early settlers could not have imagined!! All this can be found downtown today between 9am and 5pm.
The Wilderness Trail served as the last bastion of civilization before heading westward to new settlements. Historical notables who lived in or passed through Christiansburg included Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, Booker T. Washington and many others. Come join the fun -- the weather promises to be perfect, too!
