Talk about getting off on the wrong foot. Again.

First, NRV residents learned yet another 501(c)3 was formed and a director hired to direct regional tourism efforts-- before the Tourism Development Council voted on it and neglecting that this entity was part of the chamber.  And minding that incidental law about requesting bids when allocating public money or awarding contracts.

Not to mention the proposed director had been involved with the tourism program since public funding began (but any perceived problems or failures were because of the local chamber and that board, readers are to assume).

Then another article details the new approach to regional tourism and working with others interested in promoting the NRV, and ends up insulting the neighbors.

A member of the Giles County Board of Supervisors wasn't amused

It's a good bet these same comments didn't sit well with stakeholders in Radford, Pulaski and Floyd either -- and a good bet folks in Roanoke, Salem, Vinton and Botetourt are delighted.
