On Tuesday, when the Mayor asked the Town's attorney to research the Freedom of Information Act, and to provide training on that subject, I knew something was up. Why the sudden interest in compliance with laws regarding notification of public meetings, and even which meetings are public?

The New River Current published the answer to that question today. Donna Alvis-Banks' article illustrates the ignorance of the most basic laws of good governance by the Town's staff, Town Council and the Town's attorneys. Remember, the attorneys are PAID to know this stuff.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to file my official written request to be notified of all public meetings held by the Town of Christiansburg. I wonder how many they'll actually have, now that they know to inform the public.
