The Montgomery County
League of Women Voters, the Montgomery County branch of the NAACP, and the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is sponsoring two candidate forums for the upcoming town council races.
A Christiansburg Town Council candidate forum will be held on
Thursday, April 10th in the Town Hall at 7 pm. There are six candidates seeking three seats.
A Blacksburg Town Council candidate forum will be held on
Monday, April 14th in their Town Hall, also at 7 pm. Blacksburg residents will choose three council members from a field of five candidates.
Both of these events will be covered in a live broadcast found via the website
www.everythingnrv.com. If you cannot attend the forum of your choice, don't wait to read about it -- you can watch it live on your PC!
The Historic Cambria & Downtown Christiansburg Partnership is also sponsoring a series of Christiansburg Town Council candidate forums and two remaining dates include:
Saturday, April 19 - Christiansburg Depot in Cambria @ 2 pm
Sunday, April 27 - Coffee Depot, Downtown Christiansburg @ noon
Residents will have the opportunity to meet council candidates, who will also be responding to questions from the audience.
Christiansburg Town Council candidates include: Samuel Bishop, B.O. Chafin, Henry Showalter, Jim Vanhoosier, D. Michael Barber (I) and Steve Huppert (I).
Town elections will be held on
Tuesday, May 6. For Christiansburg voters, this means the polls are located in the
Armory at College and Depot Streets. (Make a note of the location. This is a change in regular polling places for most town residents, than where held during elections in November.)
