A news report last week addressed repeated delays for a Main Street project.

No, not the one in downtown Christiansburg that started late and then went nine months longer than what Town Council was told to expect.

A similar yet smaller portion of street and sidewalk improvements going on along one block of East Main doesn't seem to be using the same type of concrete as the other downtown project -- because it's been very, very cold and construction doesn't seem hampered this time.  There's also rumors the related contract has a late penalty clause this time.

And, no, this isn't a sly reference to the town's aquatic center resident's (and VT Hokie Sports) has been waiting since the fall of 2007 for the doors to open.  That project -- from concept to grand opening -- has taken nearly 12 years and provides 20, err .. make that 25 years for using the facility for VT team training.

So, Radford kith and kin, we love ya but don't have much sympathy if a major project is delayed a mere six weeks.  You should have high hopes because the entire north side project was completed in just 17 weeks using Community Development Block Grants alone.
