Monday, today, sees two local government meetings.

The Christiansburg Planning Commission meeting will be in the Town Hall (Municipal Building) at East Main and Pepper Streets beginning at 4 pm.  They will be discussing two Conditional Use Permits (CUP).  One matter previously had a hearing already, so the Town Council is expected to take action on this CUP at their Jan. 20 meeting.  The second property is a new request with the related Public Hearing also set for council's Jan. 20 meeting.  A vote on this second CUP is not expected to be taken until council's following meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3, in accordance with the new process to afford council and citizens ample time to digest input and provide feedback.

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will meet in the County Government Center, Roanoke Street in Christiansburg, at 6 pm for a closed meeting and begin a regular session at 7:30 pm.  Their agenda includes a Public Hearing on the 2009-2010 budget.

On Tuesday, Jan. 13th, the School Board will hold a work session beginning at 6 pm in the Junkin Street Administrative Offices, focusing on budget.
