The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will have a regular meeting this Monday, beginning at 7:15 pm.  There is no closed meeting scheduled beforehand.

A public hearing on the issuance of Virginia General Obligation School Bonds will be held, in regards to financing a portion of costs associated with the new Elliston-Lafayette & Shawsville Elementary School (whew, why don't we just call it EastMont Elementary?).

The final 2009-2010 fiscal year budget presentation will be made, and supervisors are expected to take action to advertise it and set the real estate tax rate.  Administration is proposing a 0.71 cent per $100 valuation, which is the current rate.

A "Joint Economic Development & Growth Sharing Agreement" with the Town of Christiansburg is on the agenda, as is a delegation which is scheduled to provide an update on the courthouse project

A resolution accepting the resignation of Clay Goodman will be voted upon, along with the appointment of an Interim County Administrator.

The county administrator's report will include information on historic tax credits.  The county attorney will make a report, but whether the status of the county's lawsuit opposing the Intermodal Railyard will be included is unknown.  In reviewing what projects remained in VDOT's 6-year transportation plan, it appears this is a done deal because of related and funded construction in the Glenvar and Ironto areas.

Citizens of Blacksburg or Christiansburg are reminded they are also residents of Montgomery County, and therefore see two levels of government and taxing, so should be tracking both their town and county officials.  The full agenda for this meeting can be read here.  These meetings are held in the County Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg
