Besides the Christiansburg Planning Commission meeting today at 3 pm,  the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will also convene for a regular session at the Government Center on Roanoke Street in Christiansburg.

A closed session relative to appointments to the Library Board, Office on Youth Advisory Board, and Parks & Recreation Board will begin at 6 pm.  The board will also discuss a possible Prices Fork Elementary school site and the "friendly" boundary line agreement with the Town of Christiansburg.

The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:15 pm.  After the public address, old business on the agenda includes two rezoning requests, to be followed by a work session to discuss the AEP Falling Branch-Merrimac 138kV transmission line project, a hydrogeologic study for proposed additional phases of The Ridges subdivision, and Revenue Sharing projects for the current fiscal year.

New business includes possible action on the AEP transmission line project, authorization for issuance of bonds (new debt) for county and school capital projects, consideration of a proposed policy relative to the abandonment of secondary roads and a victim witness grant

The county administrator will then have staff members brief his board on the New River Valley Housing Consortium (which Christiansburg does not participate in), a public information office briefing, and inmate litter clean up report.  If board members have other items to report, this will then follow and any other business will be addressed before adjourning.

The supervisors next meeting will be held Monday, July 28.  Attend your government's public meeting and increase your understanding of how tax dollars are being utilized.
