Being included on Christiansburg's list for those who are to be notified of any or all public meetings is easy. Just contact the town hall at 382-6128 and ask for the town manager's office for instructions.
Technically, anyone who has previously received this information via email or snail mail is required to resubmit the request annually. That would be now. This means any citizen or news organization and it is supposed to be made in writing. This places you on the distribution lists for notification of regular council or special work sessions (think budget), ad hoc and standing committees, or commission meetings.
It is likely anyone already receiving notice from the town would continue to get this information -- but to be formal and proper, and cross T's and dot I's won't hurt. This same requirement applies to other public bodies you may want to receive notice for on meetings or planned agendas as they are made available to elected officials, such as the school board, other towns, or our board of supervisors. Find that public body's main telephone number and ask for information on how to receive these notices -- several provide for this automatically by just visiting their respective websites.
