Mr. Baldwin, the development director for Brain Injury Services of Southwest Virginia, spoke at the April 1 Town Council meeting. He and case manager Susan Mayorga described how important these services are to the community, and told heartwarming stories about clients benefiting from those services.

They also asked for financial help to cover costs of providing specialized case management to nine people in Christiansburg. The sum requested was only $3,496. Mr. Baldwin explained that they ask all municipalities in their service area for assistance, and that no locality gives all that the agency requests.

Christiansburg should be the first locality that does give the full amount.

Things are tough all over, we know. But, please, ask around. You'll probably make at least an indirect connection with a brain injury survivor. When you hear that person's story, you'll see the immeasurable value of $3,496.
