Montgomery County Public Schools now offers paying for school meals through an online service called Café Prepay, which allows parents to keep track their children’s account balance. Begun in 2000, the service's popularity has grown with school districts and busy parents who use it as a convenient alternative to sending money to school with their children. Others simply prefer to pay with a credit/debit card, or pay for all school fees with one easy payment. To learn more about this service, visit www.cafeprepay.com.
But don't look for similar services for town citizens when Christiansburg's new website is launched -- it appears additional computer software must be purchased and related staff training conducted before town taxes and water/sewer payments can be made online, per recent comments on a council members's blog.
Until then, when making payments at town hall, be sure to check out the special bulletin board when you visit to find out when or where public meetings will be held.
