Christiansburg's Planning Commission is back up to full strength, and the next meeting on Monday, Dec. 1 at 4 pm will see the annual election of officers

Members include Steve Simmons, Chair; Wayne Booth; Michael Byrd; Dan Canada; Steve Huppert; Craig Moore; and Councilwoman Ann Carter.  The Vice-Chair position has been vacant since September 1, when Jim VanHoozier transitioned to Town Council and Town Manager R. Lance Terpenny serves as the commission's non-voting secretary.

Old business includes sign, parking and bed and breakfast ordinance amendments. Consideration of amending Zoning in regards to provisions for a Historic District Overlay, first brought up in March, is also on the agenda.

New items include the review of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) granted September 21, 2004 for SB Holdings at 135 and 175 Scattergood Drive.  Town Council has extended this CUP on several occasions to provide the business time to relocate and remove outside storage of building materials.  Another CUP, issued May 20, 2008, for L&R Burch Properties located at 2000 Roanoke Street will be reviewed as regards auto and truck auctions.

Related documents regarding each of these items may be viewed in the Christiansburg Town Hall, 100 E. Main St., during normal office hours.  Written comments may be sent to that address.
