Christiansburg's Planning Commission (PC) will meet in Town Hall, 100 E. Main Street, on Monday,  October 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.  These meetings are normally scheduled for the first and third Monday of each month.  The agenda includes:

1) An ordinance amending Chapter 30 “Zoning” of the Christiansburg Town Code in regards to allow janitorial and exterminating services

2) Contingent upon item 1, a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) request by Nininger Investments, L.L.C. for property at 945 Radford Street for an exterminating service in the B-3 General Business District.

3) An ordinance in regards to a rezoning request by Gary Harris for property at 1225 Murray Street from A Agricultural to R-1A Rural Residential.  The property contains 2.547 acres and is scheduled as Residential in the Future Land Use Map of the Christiansburg Comprehensive Plan

4) Contingent upon item 3, a CUP request by Gary Harris for property at 1225 Murray Street for a family day home serving six through twelve children in the R-1A Rural Residential District.

5) Discussion or consideration of the candidates being considered for an advisory recommendation for appointment to the Planning Commission

A Public Hearing on items 1 through 4 has been set for Monday, Nov. 3rd at 7:30 pm to allow citizen comment and input on these matters.  Council is not expected to take action on these items until the following meeting, Tuesday, Nov. 17th.

A description of the proposed ordinances, Advertising Ordinance, Zoning Map, Zoning Ordinance and Future Land Use Map may be viewed in the Town Hall between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Mon-Fri.  Written comments may be sent to the preceding address and should allow adequate mailing time.

The PC's last meeting was held on Monday, Oct. 6th and included a CUP in the B-3 General Business District to review a permit granted earlier in the year;  consideration of provisions regarding signage,  parking facilities, bed & breakfast inns and historic district overlays; and discussion of candidates being considered for a vacancy on this commission.  It is notable that since Sept. 1, when Councilman Jim VanHoozier took office, the vice-chairmanship of this commission has been vacant and may be expected to be filled once the final appointment has been determined by Town Council.
