Fans of excellent journalism in general, and top-notch reporting in the New River Valley specifically, will miss
Donna Alvis-Banks, who has retired from her job as a features reporter for the Roanoke Times.
She officially retired yesterday, but has a
story in today's Current about blogging in Christiansburg. (Timing
is everything.)
Ms. Banks wrote about the vast range of events that impact everyday life. She also wrote about emotions, issues and actions, trying to improve everyday life. Not afraid to ask the tough questions, Ms. Banks helped
open the closed doors of government in Christiansburg.
Let's hope she
does continue writing as a freelancer. No doubt Ms. Banks has a lot more to contribute to the New River Valley.
