With a considerable amount of town information now available -- not because it was on the town's web site, rather because a citizen requested, paid for, scanned and posted information online -- some residents seem to be pouring over these files.

One citizen attended the July 15 council meeting to ask about a $20,000 payment from three years ago because receipt for one of the two related $10,000 payments wasn't apparent.

During council's last meeting on August 5, the town manager reported to council that the matter had been researched.  The second $10,000 payment had in fact been received -- several years ago.  Council then talked about whether the related contract should be reexamined as it provides a vendor exclusive rights for sales at town facilities.  (It's been a while since this this contract was awarded or reviewed, too.)

It's nice to know that citizens are accessing this Town of Christiansburg related information, and are willing to contact their elected council to ask specific questions.

And it's nice to know that town administration is following up on issues brought before them via a public forum.  Hopefully, the citizen who asked about this matter got the message resolving her question, too.
