An uncommon event, a special meeting to conduct a work session has been scheduled for the Christiansburg Town Council. This will be held Friday, April 17th at 9:30 am at the municipal building.
If it weren't for the efforts of Donna Alvis Banks one year ago, this blog and Depot Dazed, it is unlikely the public would even be aware of this meeting -- therefore, unable to choose to attend or not.
That's what got people hot and bothered before. They heard what was in the new fiscal year budget after it had already been decided upon. Public documents relative to the 2009-2010 town budget aren't found on the town's spiffy new website, but they can be reviewed here. Since the old-timers who got really riled up probably don't "do" the internet, they may yet get fired up again this year.
Things may change slowly in Christiansburg, but this is new. Even progressive.
