A former Christiansburg lawyer pled guilty today to forging public documents.
Whatever compelled this person? Greed; a lust for money blended with incompetence? Why would he do this? Is it too much to expect our public officials or licensed professionals -- like CPAs, attorneys, financial planners, physicians, realtors or engineers -- are honest and competent? We've seen this nationally, and now here in our own backyard. Poor decisions diminish public trust and rarely go without discovery at some point.
Citizens may never know or understand the motivations that led to this situation. It's such a waste -- public resources, harmed lives -- with long-term negative ramifications for the individual, his family, and our community.
So unnecessary. So sad.
